Walmart Marketplace Application Checklist (US and Canada)

Walmart reviews every Marketplace application, and a missing document or a business name that doesn’t match your tax records is enough to slow it down. Use this checklist before you apply to Walmart.com in the US or Walmart.ca in Canada. Every item comes from Walmart Marketplace Learn, checked September 2026.

Walmart.com (US) checklist

1. Business and identity

• A business tax ID or business license number. Walmart says a Social Security number is not accepted.
• A copy of a personal photo ID, front and back, clear and well lit.
• A business document such as a license or registration certificate that shows the company name, address and date.
• Proof of address, such as a utility bill.
• Files in PNG, JPG or PDF format, each under 5MB.
• An eligible business type. Walmart’s US guide says non-profit organizations, sole proprietorships (except in India) and Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) businesses aren’t accepted for the US Marketplace.

2. Details that must match

• Your business name and address entered exactly as they appear in your IRS records or other government documents. Walmart’s business verification guide calls this out directly.
• The same name and address on your ID, business document, proof of address and bank account.
• Your personal details entered exactly as they appear on your ID.

3. Selling history and products

• A history of marketplace or ecommerce sales you can describe in the application.
• Products with GTIN/UPC barcodes from a GS1 company prefix.
• A catalog checked against Walmart’s prohibited products policy before you apply.

4. Fulfillment and returns

• A business-to-consumer US warehouse that handles returns and can meet Walmart’s Seller Performance Standards, or
• A plan to use Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS).

5. After you submit

• Watch your email for an identity check. Walmart may ask you to verify with a photo ID and a face scan, and gives seven days to complete it.
• Expect business verification to take anywhere from a few minutes to a few business days, according to Walmart.

Walmart.ca (Canada) checklist

• A federal or provincial Business Number, or a business tax identification number.
• Your legal business name, business email, phone number and address.
• A driver’s license, passport or other government photo ID showing the ID number, expiry date and country of issue.
• One address document: Notice of Assessment, Articles of Incorporation, Articles of Amalgamation, or Notice of Registration (Quebec only).
• A utility bill or bank statement from the last 6 months.
• Canadian tax registration numbers, if they apply to you, with a screenshot from the tax website.
• A customer service email and phone number.
• A return center address in Canada or the United States.
• Bank account details for payouts.
• A plan for French content. Walmart lets you go live with English content but expects French content to be uploaded, as required under applicable law.

Common reasons applications stall

If Walmart denies your application

Walmart’s help center says you can appeal a denied application by opening a case with Seller Support through the Help button in the Seller Center menu bar. Walmart reviews the case, may ask questions and then gives a final decision. Walmart also notes that an appeal does not guarantee approval, so fix the cause first: the mismatch, the missing document or the product issue.
